If it can be improved, we will experiment and try to improve.

The Most Important Nutrient for Fat Loss

The Most Important Nutrient for Fat Loss: High Quality Animal Protein

The word protein is derived from the Greek word, “proteios”, which means “of prime importance.” Protein is very important because it is involved in every biological process that runs the body. Without adequate intake of high-quality animal proteins, physical performance and appearance will be compromised.

In order to receive all of the benefits of a high protein intake, you must be diligent in choosing only high quality sources.

Let’s distinguish between high-quality vs. low-quality animal proteins.

  • High quality animal protein comes from wild animals, wild-caught seafood, and organic free-range livestock raised on a natural diet of grass and plants.
  • Low quality animal protein comes from grain-fed (corn, wheat) unhealthy livestock and farm-raised fish. This is the standard fare in most grocery store meat departments.

Six Reasons to Consume More Animal Protein When Trying to Lose Fat

  1. Animal protein is superior to vegetable protein because it is a complete source of amino acids (protein), good fats, vitamins, and minerals. Vegetable protein sources do not provide a complete (full array of amino acids) protein, nor do they contain the level of nutrients found in quality meats.
  2. In order to lose fat, you must consume a threshold amount of protein. Without adequate protein, fat loss will be stifled due to muscle loss, decreased androgen levels, and slow recovery.
  3. Animal protein decreases cravings for sugar and starches.
  4. Animal protein improves energy levels due to the positive effect on brain chemistry and dopamine levels.
  5. Intense exercise, stress, and dieting will increase the need for protein.
  6. Without sufficient amino acids, your body cannot make enough glutathione, a potent anti-oxidant that is vital for detoxification of carcinogens and toxins.

If you have issues digesting animal protein, fix your digestive system. A healthy digestive system is designed to digest and assimilate meat.
